Seen in a grocery store parking lot

Bumper sticker: "If it's not made in the USA, don't buy it!"

Make of car: Mazda.

I should have taken a picture with my phone--the car was gone by the time we came out of the store.

Vegas, baby!

After checking out the forecast for Kansas City (only in the 50s, maybe low 60s for the near future) I decided that it didn't qualify as warm or sunny enough to get me out of here. So after finding a great deal ($308 per person for airfare from Des Moines and 3 nights, 3-star hotel) I was able to talk D into going to Vegas, baby. It's really the cheapest sunny place we can get to from here. Really I don't mind if we hardly see any attractions, I could be happy just sitting by the pool and soaking up some sun. Of course, we may have to check on discounted tickets to shows, especially being there during the week and (hopefully) somewhat off-peak since our break is really late this year. Regardless, it will be nice to be in a place where I don't have to have long underwear under my pants every day to keep warm. Seriously, people, enough is enough.

The thought of 80 degrees and sunshine is the only thing getting me through this week of school. We are going to have more rain/snow and 40 degree weather this week. No matter when break is, the kids are squirrely the week before.

Anywhere but here

I woke up yesterday morning with almost an obsession to get out of here for a while...so I started checking prices on trips over Spring Break. Many places and flights are a bit pricey for our currently limited budget, but a friend suggested that Kansas City, MO might be a good destination--usually several degrees warmer than here, a nice downtown, probably cheap hotels available on several internet deal sites, and within reasonable driving distance. I think we may wait until the week before to see how the weather checks out and to optimize our hotel rate.

I'm looking into it. I was kind of hoping the travel sites would have boxes I could click labeled "Anywhere but here" or "Somewhere warmer than here." No such luck. I'm usually not a sit-on-the-beach vacation kind of girl, but I'm thinking a hotel with a pool and maybe a spa could be just what the doctor ordered. I just have to survive 3 more weeks--our break is really late this year!
