Update

Recent summer adventures:

D had to go to LA for research and so had to miss my cousin's wedding in KY. So, I decided to make a trip of it. I took the train to Chicago and stayed with B for a few days. I should really hang with food critics more often. Because B and her friend T do a podcast on Chicago restaurants, we were well receieved (read: got free drinks) at two restaurants while I was there. She also had friends who got us VIP invitations to a whisky tasting. :-) I spent my days enjoying the Chicago shopping scene, and nights hanging with B and friends. Much fun had by all.

I met up with my dad and my brother at Midway airport, and we all drove down to KY for the wedding together. We had fun and I became the unoffical corsage-pinner to the wedding party. It made me appreciate once again that I am finished with that wedding planning nonsense.

Went back to Chi-town after the wedding and stayed with C, maid of honor from my wedding. I museum-hopped during the day--Art Institute, Science and Industry, Field Museum. My feet were tired but my brain was amply fed. Loved the da Vinci exhibit at Science and Industry. He was such an amazing scientist, craftsman, thinker, artist. He invented things that weren't manufactured until hundreds of years later because the proper materials didn't exist at the time. Really enjoyed hanging with a different crowd and laughed a lot.

Now I am in the middle of the summer's redecoration project: our bedroom. So far I am in the midst of taking down a hideous wallpaper border, hopefully the messiest part of the project. I'm resting my arms right now but I will probably go back soon. I plan to paint both walls and trim, add crown molding, replace the closet doors, and maybe paint a dresser or two. I picked up a bunch of paint chips yesterday and they are taped to the wall so I can see them in different lights. Wish me luck--it's back to work soon!
