School update

Hello, dear readers...(all 3 of you!)

I'm currently rocking out with my new iPod Nano. D wanted his Christmas present early (he got a Cubs Soto jersey in time for the end of the season), so I got mine early too. I've been working out in the school's weight room after school, and realized that I would really like a portable source of music. So I've officially joined the pod people and the 21st century. There's also the joy of free podcasts, which are awesome.

The first few weeks of school have been going well. We have a very courteous group of kids, and they seem not to be whiny either, which is great! Hopefully once the honeymoon wears off, they should still be manageable. Of course, another year of experience for me makes a difference too. I feel like I can finally start being myself around kids, mostly. It makes things much more comfortable.

I seem to have come down with my first sinus issues/sore throat/cough of the year. I'm blaming this on a combination of the horrendous allergy season we seem to be having (I read somewhere that this is the worst season since we started recording pollen counts!) and the 80-some 8th grade walking germ factories I've suddenly been exposed to. I love them dearly, but it's all I can do to stay healthy sometimes! I've already had kids out sick for a few days this week. One came back today saying she had walking pneumonia. She had been on antibiotics for 24 hours before coming back, but here's hoping I wasn't infected before she left.

At least I get to wear my skirts and fun school clothes again!
