Maybe they stole the car instead!
Actually, I think a lot of Mazdas are made in Flat Rock, Michigan. So they may well have been driving an American-made Mazda.
I thought it might have been constructed in the U.S., but you would think that the person would want to support a company that also employs American engineers and designers, not just one who has a factory here. Oh well.
Hm, need I remind you that PEOPLE DON'T MAKE SENSE? :-P
